FAST (Flexible, Accessible Strategies for Timely digital exhibit design) was a multi-year project with a goal of creating an infrastructure that can help exhibit developers offer rapidly-changing content in a way that engages as many people as possible, including people with disabilities. Through workshops with cross-organizational input, prototypes of numerous tools and activities, and accessibility board reviews, we created a set of three template activities.
I worked on storyboarding and graphic design of the Geology table, our exemplar activity for “Object Investigation.” This activity asks a series of questions with hints along the way to allow for observations as visitors identify or classify objects.
A booklet summary of the FAST project introduces the project process, prototyped tools, and activity templates. This brief summary accompanies a larger toolkit with additional documentation, a software development kit, and additional resources. (Project resources available at this link).
